How We Work

Editorial Policy

How we research, write, test, and correct what we publish.

Who writes this

SmallSpace Home is written and maintained by Badreddine Br, a renter living in a 510 sq ft Toronto apartment. This is not a large editorial team — it's one person testing real products and layouts in a real rental, then writing up what actually worked and what didn't. See the About page for the full story.

How we research and write

Every guide starts from a real constraint — a small kitchen, a rented living room, a closet with no organizer system — and works through solutions we've either tried ourselves or researched carefully from Canadian retailers (IKEA Canada, Amazon.ca, HomeSense, Wayfair Canada, Canadian Tire, Structube) so prices and availability are accurate for a Canadian audience, not adapted from US content.

We use AI-assisted tools to help with research, drafting, and editing efficiency. Every piece of advice, every price, and every product recommendation is reviewed by a human before publishing — nothing goes live unchecked.

Product recommendations

We recommend specific products (often IKEA or Amazon.ca items) because they're genuinely useful for small Canadian apartments, not because of a paid placement. If a post ever contains a sponsored product or affiliate link, it will be clearly disclosed at the top of that article. As of now, this site does not run affiliate links or sponsored content.

Corrections and updates

Prices, retailer stock, and product availability change. If you spot something outdated or incorrect, let us know — we update posts when we confirm an error, and note significant changes in the post's "last updated" date rather than silently editing published claims.

What we don't do

  • We don't publish staged, unrealistic "after" photos we haven't actually recreated in a real small space.
  • We don't inflate prices or omit cheaper alternatives to make a paid product look better.
  • We don't accept payment in exchange for a positive review.
