Toronto renter · 510 sq ft apartment · Writing since 2023
Background
I've lived in a 510 sq ft Toronto apartment for three years. Before starting SmallSpace Home, I spent months trying to make the space work using advice built for houses with basements and garages — none of it translated to a small Canadian rental where you can't drill into the walls and every square foot has to earn its place.
I'm not a professional interior designer or organizer. What I bring is direct, repeated experience testing storage systems, furniture, and layouts in a real rental — and being honest in writing about what actually held up and what fell apart after a month.
What I actually do for this site
- Test products in my own apartment before recommending them — prices and availability checked against Canadian retailers (IKEA Canada, Amazon.ca, HomeSense, Wayfair Canada, Canadian Tire, Structube)
- Write every guide from a renter's constraints: no drilling, no permanent changes, real CAD budgets
- Update posts when prices or product availability change, rather than leaving stale information live
- Reply personally to every message sent through the contact page
Editorial approach
Full detail on how content here gets researched, written, and corrected is on theEditorial Policy page. Short version: real testing where possible, accurate Canadian pricing always, and no sponsored placements dressed up as genuine recommendations.
